Vox Hunt: I Love This Cover
Show us your favorite album cover.
This was the first record I ever bought, and I got it without knowing a thing about it, simply because of the runes on the cover. Well, that, and I loved the feel of the art on the front and back.
I had a huge interest in J.R.R. Tolkien at the time, and had just bought The Languages of Tolkien's Middle-Earth. Of course I had to copy down the letters of the Broadsword album cover and liner, and translate them in English.
I was a bit disappointed when I figured out that the text was in English, simply transliterated into a simple runic alphabet. Still, it gave me an hour of imagining mysterious worlds, and indulging thoughts of becoming a cryptographer when I grew up.
If you're feeling bored or nerdy, try the same thing with my links to the front cover, back cover, and inner sleeve. If you don't want to learn or look up rune systems, you can always treat the text as simple cryptograms. Enjoy!
